Yoghurt – my favorite!

Yoghurt is my favorite food, or drink, if you like. I just love it! I drink it every day, 2 times a day, because I am lactose-intolerant and I do not drink milk, or I drink it very occasionally, but on those days I cannot eat anything but toast, crackers, or croissants. But, it is hard to go through a day eating like this, and above all- it is unhealthy. So- I always chose yoghurt.
This dairy product, made by bacterial fermentation of milk, is easier digested than milk, because bacteria in yoghurt transform lactose from milk into lactic acid. Yoghurt is good for numerous gastrointestinal disorders, for health of our gums, our bones, and many ill conditions. It is nutritionally full; it contains calcium, proteins, riboflavin, B6 and B12 vitamins. In 100g, full-fat yoghurt has only 60 kcal, those low fat yoghurts have even less, depending on the percentage of fats.
Benefits of yoghurt are known to everyone. Yoghurt adds us years to life, as it is proved in some countries where inhabitants use more fermented dairy products, such yoghurt and kefir. Also, bacteria from yoghurt fortify our immune system. Then, yoghurt lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol, and raises HDL (good) cholesterol. Daily consumption of 100 g of pro-biotic yoghurt (i.e. yoghurt which contains health-promoting bacteria) significantly improved the cholesterol profile in women volunteers in one study. Numerous studies have proved that yoghurt helps us lose body fat by boosting body’s fat burning after our meals. Then, it is good in healing arthritis, against ulcers, reduces risk of colorectal cancer…
I hope I “talked you into” eating this fantastic food. And for the end, here is my favorite recipe- it is really easy, and really low caloric. I make it with yoghurt and seasonal fruits. It can be any fruit you like. So, cut fruit in slices, put them in a bowl, and then add your yoghurt over it. Then put it in a fridge to cool for a while. If your ingredients were in fridge, you can eat it as soon as you make it. And to tell you one more thing- this is a good substitute for ice-cream for those who want to lose some weight.
