Tips for making healthy juices

A friend asked me recently why do I make my own juices, and do not buy them, when there are a lot of “healthy” juices out there. The answer is simple- I love making my own portion of health! It doesn’t take much time, I chose various combinations of fruits and veggies while on the other hand-while buying juices- there’s not a new taste each day! That simple!
This is a sure way to take in important enzymes, minerals, vitamins and other things we need to fight off disease. From juices, our body instantly absorbs the nutrients, while smoothies contain yogurt, milk… so they are a mixture, and they can replace your snack or even a meal. Even if drinking them, you still must eat enough from the other food groups, and if you are on a strict regime or any kind of medical supervision-do consult your doctor before making drastic changes to your regime.
Here are few basic tips for those who want to try their on creativity, and make their own juices and smoothies:
1.    apples and carrots combine and blend with almost every kind of fruit and vegetables;
2.    don’t put too many strong tasting veggies in one juice;
3.    strong and bitter tasting veggies are better when diluted and sweetened with carrot and cucumber;
4.    if you have sensitive throat, do not use ice in your juices/smoothies;
5.    include fruit and veggie skins in every juice when possible, or at least peel them thinly, to preserve enzymes, minerals and vitamins;
6.    large stones and seeds (apricot, avocado, mango, plum…) are to be removed, while smaller you can leave, but lemon and apple seeds make give a bitter taste, so don’t put them in juices/smoothies.

I hope I helped a little to those who are willing to involve themselves in such a creative and funny and very, very useful process of improving their own health.
