Bacon – wrapped dried plums have it all! This delicious combination provides a mouthful of contrasts – crispy bacon and melting and sweet plums.
This is fantastic party food that all of the guests would like. It goes perfectly with different types of cheese and wines. The beauty of it is that it is made very quickly and very easily that even those who are not very good at kitchen, can’t spoil it. There are, of course, different variations of the recipe, such as the one with the almond inside the plum, but for this one you’ll need more time and not much more skills than for the basic bacon wrapped dried plums recipe. If you don’t like plums, you can use apricots instead for an equally tasty alternative. Ideas can be numerous, really.
Bacon – Wrapped Dried Plums Ingredients
- 20 dried plums, pitted
- 20 stripes of bacon
- 20 toothpicks
- parchment paper (for lining your pan)
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line the pan with parchment paper.
- Put a strip of bacon on a chopping board, place a dried plum at the top edge and roll, wrapping it tightly around the plum. Secure with a toothpick and that’s it. Repeat with the remaining bacon and plums.
- Place your bacon wrapped dried plums in the pan and bake them for about 15 – 20 minutes, or until the bacon is golden and crispy.
And that is it. Of course, you can use as many plums as you need, according to the number of your guests, or family members. The only important thing is that you need the same number of ingredients: plums, strips of bacon and toothpicks.
This is one of the recipes that are remembered for it’s taste, beauty and simplicity. One more thing about them is that they are good warm as well as cold, so you can prepare them in advance, or you can prepare them when unexpected guests pop up, for they don’t need much preparation or baking. Another one recipe that I wrote earlier would go perfectly in this situation for it is also made easily and quickly, and you can see it here.
I hope you liked it.
